I presented a daily basis ritual that I do on a daily basis. For this, I had decided to look at some sort of holiday ritual that I do. It has been years since I have been home for an Alaskan Thanksgiving/Christmas. I have moved so many times in my life that I never adapted some sort of ritual during the holidays.
I have been dating Jason for a year and half now and we have spent all major holidays together. For Thanksgiving in 2010, Jason cooked the meal ( I can't cook to save my life-not even POPCORN)! This year;however, we went to Old Chicago for our meal. It may have been free, but it was still so GOOD! Waiting in line for about 15 minutes only enhanced the meal that much more. (Similar to the book saying if consumers see a big line in a restaraunt they will still stop and join because it must be good). Something that was consistent was our attair. We dressed in what tehe business world called "business casual." It was one small way to give our thanks.
For Christmas, I would give him some sort of University of Oregon gear (Go Ducks!) because that is where he graduated. I would get some sort of allowance for me to go and spend on whatever I wanted, but he would always get me something that was special from him that he bought himself.. We would buy all the dogs stockings (around seven) because they are members of the family, too. Any gift for our families we would buy it together so my budget was never for anyone bu me, but I did manage to get somethings past him for his gifts.
Despite all of that, I love being with my family and friends when we have the money to go to places. Yes, I have been on my own for a while, but I am still trying to find my own traditions and do it my way with my family. I just enjoy being around people to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
